FotoNostrum Portrait Award 2021

FotoNostrum Portrait Award 2021

FotoNostrum Looks For Portraits Made By Photographers That Are: BOLD, ORIGINAL, AWARE, UNCONVENTIONAL, CREATIVE, MOTIVATED.
We believe that an Award is as significant as the quality of its judging team. This is why we have invited a group of seven jurors that have in common to be master portrait photographers. Selected images in this Portrait Award will be chosen and backed by masters with different selection criteria. However, all will be focusing on five main aspects of the photograph: concept, execution, boldness, creativity and emotional impact, making the viewer think and feel what the image is transmitting.
The Jurors of the 2021 edition are Adam Ferguson, Art Streiber, Barbara Davidson, Julia Fullerton-Batten, Justine Tkallinks, Sandro Miller, and Steve McCurry.

Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards 2021 Portrait Prize

Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards 2021 Portrait Prize

The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards [KLPA] is an annual global portrait photography prize seeking the very best and fresh entries from photographers of all levels in two main categories – Single Image open and a Project-based or themed category. Initiated in 2009, KLPA is recognised as a significant and vital award in the photography calendar, supporting and rewarding contemporary portraiture practice especially in the South East Asian region.
The Single Image Theme for 2021 is Sense of Self. Many of us have been self-isolating at home over the last 12 months. How have these externally imposed restrictions affected our sense of self?
As humans, we are in constant need to interact, relate and communicate with others and these actions define our individual identity and sense of self; through the choices we make and the actions we take. In the Single Image Theme Category, KLPA is seeking stand-alone artistic and creative interpretations of this theme, through self-portraits or portraits of other people.
How do you define yourself or someone else? What are the traits and characteristics that make a person who they are? How can you photograph these ‘selfs’ and make them stand out as an individual in a creative and meaningful way? Portraits can delve deep into a person’s psyche and reveal what is superficially masked on the surface.
Following a great success last year, the 2021 jury will again be selecting the ten best proposals and award USD$1,000 each to the three photographers with the most deserving projects. This year priority is given to young and unrepresented photographers who may require extra funding to fulfil their projects or cover living expenses due to the pandemic restrictions. There will be no theme; however, we just want to see visually strong human interest stories which are portraiture-based.

The International Portrait Photographer of the Year

The International Portrait Photographer of the Year

The International Portrait Photographer of the Year is a global competition for professionals & amateurs purely for the showcase of portrait photography. We aim to be the gold standard for portrait photography worldwide.
There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing your photos published alongside the world’s best. And the International Portrait Photographer of the Year Awards book is a real book – printed on paper and bound between hard covers, but of course, you will also be able to see the wonderful flip-book presentations here on the website. Being published is a mark of success!
This is our first year of the International Portrait Photographer of the Year Award and we’re following a similar philosophy to our successful International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards (now in its eighth year). And because we want to create a book of ‘contemporary’ photography, we’re not interested in old chestnuts that have won awards years ago, we want to see what you’re capturing and processing now. That’s why your entries must have been captured after 1 January 2019 (so, within the last 28-odd months).
The main aim of our Award is to be one of the Top 101 portrait photographs of the year. This gives you a place in our exclusive book which is published online and can be purchased as a ‘real’ hard-cover paper publication as well (it’s proudly printed by Momento Pro).
There is US$10,000 in cash prizes for the top three photographs and top three photographers (requiring a portfolio of at least four entries), plus a printed copy of the book from Momento Pro. And there are five special subject prizes winning a print from Created For Life!

• sub-licensing winning Entries to the press (such as magazines and websites) for reproduction in connection with the Competition and any exhibition. Please note, these organisations do not need to contact you separately for permission to use your photo in connection with the Competition – you are giving us permission here which we will give to them;

The Organiser wishes to promote the Awards with the winners’ images, but we don’t want to prevent our winners from benefiting commercially from sales of their own work. A small number of entrants may need to be able to license their work exclusively at some point in the future and the Organizer commits to providing a release in such circumstances upon being contacted
Natural Landscape Photography Awards

Natural Landscape Photography Awards

The competition aims to represent landscape photographers who recognize the power that comes from truthful depiction of the natural world. Whilst other competitions may allow complete freedom in digital manipulation, this competition is for photographers who choose to work within the more traditional bounds of the medium, while still expressing themselves creatively. It addresses the idea that the unique quality photography has over other artistic mediums is its grounding in reality. The competition showcases the skill of these photographers in revealing the wonder of the natural landscape.
One of the most powerful aspects of a great landscape photograph is its ability to transport the viewer to relive a moment in time, distant location, or smaller scene, through the eyes of the photographer. This helps the viewer to engage with the subject matter, understand the relationships the photographer wanted to express, and allow photographs to support the case for conservation.
By constraining our photographs to represent the natural world in a truthful manner, we create trust in our artform’s unique position to pair real experiences with artistic creation. This does not preclude the use of editing tools such as Photoshop which, when used sensitively, can enhance the viewer’s experience without misleading them.

No borders or watermarks are allowed. Images shot on film should be submitted digitally and if they progress to the final stages we will contact the photographer about verifying the originals. RAW files will be requested for images making it to the final judging phases of the competition. Entries are wholly the original work of the person entering and under their sole ownership. Entries have NOT won or been commended in another past major international competition. There is no time limit on when an image was captured (it does not have to be captured in the last year). As we are aligned with the Nature First Principles, the entry or entries have been captured in accordance with local laws and National Park rules. This includes permits, licences and permissions (including drone laws). Project Submission Requirements Projects should be submitted together as a collection of between 6 and 10 images. There is a separate section of the submission form for this process. Each individual image that forms part of the project should follow the individual image submission requirements above. NYC4PA Call for Entry – ARCHITECTURE 2021

NYC4PA Call for Entry – ARCHITECTURE 2021

Architecture is defined as the art or science of building, often with a focus on habitable structures. Great architects like Gehry, Wright, and Gaudi come to mind as well as famous buildings like the Sydney Opera House and the Disney Music Hall in LA. But architecture can be much broader that habitable buildings. Consider the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids in Egypt and interiors like the main hall at New York’s Grand Central Station. Gardens can have a fundamental architecture as can other carefully planned spaces, and skylines may represent a collection of similar or different types of architecture.
Send us your vision of architecture with images that represent any of the facets mentioned above or another interpretation you envision. Whole structures and architectural detail are all welcome.
As with all calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted.
